The beauty industry is a gigantic market not only here in Singapore but around the world. There is no doubt that all women want to look their best every day. If you want to look your best, you can start by improving your skin complexion. You can go to skin specialists or try different over-the-counter products.
If you choose to consult skin specialists, you have to make an appointment first. The good thing is that there are many skin specialists here in Singapore. However, consulting skin specialists will cost you big time. True, the results are imminent but you need to bear with the costs. If in this case you are thinking of your budget, you have to consider over-the-counter products. Before anything else, you have to consider basic things such as:
- Water: Water play an important role in the wellness of your skin. You should check the water quality in your area so you will know what products to use. For example, if you have soft water, you can use small amounts of body and face cleansers. If you have hard water, you can use non-soap formulas.
- Check stress level: You have to know that stress can have an adverse effect on your skin and your overall wellness. Those who experience sever stress often suffer severe breakouts. When you are stressed, the body releases a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol can make the skin oilier.
- Air quality: You need to watch out for the air quality. As much as possible you have to avoid smoky environment. Smoke can damage the skin (because of the free radicals that are being released) plus it can accelerate aging. Do not forget about indoor pollutants. Do not forget to change the air filter regularly.
- Sun exposure: You also need to watch out for sun exposure. If UV rays penetrate on your skin, it will cause brown spots and wrinkling. UV rays also cause skin cancer. So, the next time rays peep your window, you need to avoid it because it can have a lasting effect on your skin.
- Daily intake: If you have acne, you have to be conscious of your daily intake. What you eat can have an effect on your skin’s wellness. You should remember that dairy products can worsen your acne problems. You have to avoid milk (whole and skimmed), cottage cheese, breakfast drinks because they are connected to acne.
- Cleanser: Cleanser is important because it is your preventive measure to avoid psoriasis, dryness and eczema. As much as possible, go for natural and inexpensive cleansers. If you want to apply a moisturizer, you can apply after the cleanser but if you are using acne medication, wait for 10 minutes after washing the cleanser.
